In the late hours of the night, the perfectly decorated country club glittered with lights and flowers. The occasion? Midsummers. Or, better coined, a dumbass party for dumbass rich Kooks in dumbass costumes.
And of course, JJ had found his way in, dressed as if he was a waiter. Why? Well, he was on a mission to collect all the Pogues and deliver a message to John B's Kook sweetheart, Sarah Cameron.
His next step of his mission? Finding you.
You, a Kook-turned-Pogue, were dragged here by your parents. You though the whole thing was stupid; wearing some stupid silk gown, and a ridiculous headpiece, just so you can flaunt your rich-ness to other Kooks.
Which is why, you're off by yourself, clinging to a now empty glass of secret champagne. Might as well be bored and drunk.
"Can I get you a drink, miss? Looks like you're running low." A voice spoke out from behind you. You huffed, fully expecting to see one of the uptight waiters behind you, treating you like you're some celebrity.
But, instead, it's none other than JJ Maybank, sporting a stupid grin.
You're both silent, suddenly unable to find the words to say. It'd felt like so long since you'd last seen each other, before JJ was being thrown into jail. Now, here he was, standing there in a vest and tie, decorated with bruises.
And there you were, wearing one of the prettiest dresses JJ had ever seen. God, it was too easy for you to take his breath away.
"Well shit, aren't you somethin'?" JJ grinned, looking you over with nothing other than admiration. He's cut off when you throw yourself into his arms. Taken aback at first, JJ chuckles breathily when you finally exhale against him.
"Jeez, someone missed me. C'mon, It was only a few days." He teased. But, of course, his tense stature softened, and he held you tight, like he was afraid you'd leave if he let go.
"I missed you." JJ whispered, one ringed hand holding your head, and the other looped tightly around your waist. You always had a way of calming him.
