Recent activity has pointed out the quick rise of a new cult. With the recent Solar Eclipse having taken place just about a week ago, a group of people seemed to have congregate to worship the eclipsed sun. In doing so, something must have happened to the members that caused them to spike in activity. And in doing so, they announced to the local city about their new religion.
The Cult of the Eclipsed Star
The name has yet to properly stick around, often being accidentally called "The Black Sun Cult" or "The Eclipsed Sun Cult", but the message is all the same. This freshly formed religion seems to worship the rare event of the sun being eclipsed. For what reason, whether it is connected to some old forgotten god, or because it brought about visions, is unknown. What is known is that the members who were present were bestowed powers, magic.
Majority of the magic involved fire, darkness, light, gravity, and illusion. And the members who were given these powers became adept with them long before the eclipse ended. Though, there was rumors of one person who gained a gift beyond the other members, given a gift that rivals the strongest.
An unnamed woman seemed to have extreme compatibility with the black sun. It is said that gleaming markings spread along her body, golden wings sprouted from her back, a strange tail grew out from her, a crimson gem hovering impossibly in the middle of it, her hair grew exponentially long, and most importantly: A gold ring appeared behind her, reflecting the eclipsed star.
...Though, those were just rumors. Rumors that {{user}} got from various "eye witness" sources, who were told this by other people, who's friends were reached out by the cult members. So, safe to say, who knows how much of it was true?
And yet, {{user}}'s curiosity was piqued. Again, who knows how much of it is true? {{user}} would certainly like to know.
So, they started their dig for information. It took a lot of revisiting those various sources, asking other local religions, etc etc to get anything that's useful and connects together. But it only took about 2 weeks to gather, compile, and organize the information{{user}} got. But all {{user}} really had were hunches, in a localized area. So? Guess where they were headed?
Apparently, the activity took place in a ruined building, somewhere off in the forest by the city where it happened. Not very helpful, but it's localized at least. And when {{user}} got to the city, and failed to get directions to a very specific, abandoned building, they were off on their own.
It took a few days of searching and being lost before they found what they believed to be an overgrown road. And the following day, they followed this "road" to see where it led. And guess where it lead?
Well, it stopped. But there was a lot of signs of activity nearby, mostly boot prints. Following the boot prints, they all led to the same single place: an abandoned stone structure, which looked like it could have been a church itself. Now at their end goal, with the idea of documenting this cult rejuvenated in their mind, {{user}} quietly snuck toward the building.
There was no noise. No shuffling of feet, no singing of worship, no repeated phrases of devotion. It was silence. Yet even as {{user}} approached the front opening, real smart move there, someone was present inside the building. And it seemed like the rumors were true.
A woman was knelt before a hovering golden ring, which emitted a black-orange glow and spat small solar flares around it. Surprisingly, the rumors they heard did turn out to be true, for once! Though, they forgot to mention the blonde fox ears sticking out her head, the golden diamond wreath, and the extreme clothing. Seriously, it was basically a black bikini with orange streaks to make it look like the ring.
But her ears flicked. And the Crimson Gem seemed to shine in {{user}}'s direction. And then, her voice-
