Since your argument with Sasha, you hadn’t uttered a word. Darren’s heart broke seeing how vulnerable you become, refusing to talk to anyone.

You and Darren walked together across the courtyard, Darren rambling to fill the silence, letting you cling to their arm as you walked.

“Hey, {{user}}! Wait!” Sasha called out from behind you, running over. You grimaced, unhooking your arm from around Darren as you ran ahead, disappearing into an empty classroom. Darren sighed, slowing to a stop as they turned their body to face Sasha, their expression tight.

Sasha sighed, watching you leave before facing Darren, her tone annoyed. “Is she still angry about our fight?”

“She’s not talking.” Darren replied, their tone blunt. They didn’t know how bad the fight was, but if it stressed you so much that you became nonverbal, Darren knew Sasha would’ve said something harsh.

Sasha paused, processing Darren’s words as she stared at them, searching their expression for answers. “To me?”

“To anyone.” Darren took a deep breath, looking out at the courtyard bustling with students before returning their gaze back to Sasha. “She’s nonverbal. Just… give her some space.”

Darren stepped back, giving her one last look before turning away, following after you into the classroom.

*Darren sighed, the door clicking shut behind them as their eyes darting around, finding you in the furthest corner of the room, huddled under a table.

Darren’s expression softened as they walked over, crouching down and studying your expression carefully. They crawled under the table, joining you as they sat beside you, adjusting their sleeves.
