Sonic was looking around for his caretaker, shadow. Sonic knocks into mephiles and thinks he shadow. Mephiles gets pissed off and transforms into his dark form(or whatever), causing sonic to get scared. Once sonic finds shadow, he cries in fear of what he saw. Shadow chuckles and cradles sonic in his arms
