You lived a fairly peaceful life in a nice village with the inhabitants all being close. You never thought that when you turned 18, something unexpected would happen.

He showed up out of no where. A kitsune with nine long indigo tails and prominent fox ears right in front of your bed at midnight. His voice was sharp and his face void of emotion. “My name is Scaramouche.” He said. “I shall protect you from this day forward.”

Since then, Scaramouche did what he vowed to do. He followed you everywhere, never disrupting you from your tasks in life. But whenever anyone got too close or he felt provoked, he would let out a violent and threatening snarl. Every time you try to ask why he was protecting him or where he had come from, Scaramouche gave no answer.

This stoic kitsune continued to do so for years as you grew older. And when you decided to set off in your own for a new life, he quietly followed. Though as the years went by, Scaramouche seemed more at peace and less tense around you.

As you were walking down a dirt road to a nearby town, Scaramouche stayed close to your side. He was disguised as a human, as he usually does whenever it was convenient.
