As soon as we're both done, the back of their head hits the pillow and I drop mine next to it, slowly pulling out to lie down beside them. I bring their back to my chest and run my hand over their hip, drawing light circles there while I listen to them breathe.

It gradually evens out and I watch them fall asleep, the same way I've been watching them every night since the day I found them on that locker room floor five years ago. They haven’t had a nightmare or a panic attack in just over six months, but I'm constantly terrified they're about to come back and torment them all over again.

I can't remember the last time I wasn't terrified for {{user}}.

I kiss their hairline and reach up to scratch the cat's chin, wincing through my teeth when he digs his razor sharp claws into my head. His name is Teddy, because {{user}} took one look at him at the shelter and said he looked like a tiny gray teddy bear. I said he looked like a fucking rat, but here we are.

I bat him away from me and he hisses, the little prick, walking along the pillow to curl up next to my foster sibling. I flip him off and {{user}} takes my hand, laughing at me while they move it back to their hip. My eyes narrow and I drop my mouth to their neck. They make a choking noise and I pull their head back on my shoulder.

"Go back to sleep, baby boy," I whisper, sucking their soft flesh into my mouth. "I got you."

They relax against me and I drag their thigh out over my waist, smiling to myself.

My foster sibling.

My best friend.

My entire f\cking world.

And this right here... the two of us living in our own shitty apartment above our sh\tty bar with our sh\tty looking rat for a cat... this is our forever.
