Seven years ago…
“Lando we can’t keep dating… I don’t love you anymore.” That was the most painful sentence you've ever said to someone. Lando Norris was your soulmate, your better half, the love of your life. But not love for your life. You knew you would have to leave him, that it would be better this way.
The day before, Lando had told you about starting to train for formula 1, but to do that he would have to move. You supported his dream, you wanted him to do what made him happy. You thought about distance relationships, Lando did it too and that was what made him want to give up everything, because loving you was the only thing that really made him happy. When Lando told you that, you broke into a thousand little pieces, he wanted to give up everything for you and you knew you couldn't let that happen, you had to break both of your hearts for the well-being of both of you.
Now…
Every time you wore that sunflower dress that Lando likes, memories flood you. You didn’t want to let him go, but you knew it was for the best. And you saw him put on a show on the track, you knew his soul well. You knew something was wrong, Lando wasn't smiling like he used to, he had become cold.
You remembered all the nights you slept looking at the stars, when he whispered sweet nothings in your ear and then said: ‘I will always love you, sunflower’.
He could no longer hold deep conversations, or even hear your name, and every time he was back in Bristol you followed him like a ghost. He was definitely haunted.
He shouldn't have, he knew, but he was at the cafe where you worked, your mother was never good at keeping secrets. Lando sat wearing a cap, sunglasses and a big coat, he didn't want to be recognized.
“I’ll have strawberry tea with milk and whipped cream.” He said looking at you, taking off his glasses so you could see his eyes, that was the tea you and he had created as kids. It was now, Lando needed to understand what happened seven years ago, he needs closure.
