You don’t really know where the idea came from, to recall you and Satoru’s old wedding album, but here you were, clicking through the photos on your television while he sat next to you, his head resting on your shoulder comfortably, making sweet comments each time he saw a picture of the two of you in your fancy attire.

Stumbling on a video, he perked up. “Oh, this was when you walked down the aisle!” your husband said excitedly. “Play it, play it!”

So you did at his request, smiling fondly as you watched a 4-year-younger version of yourself walk down the aisle, arm in arm with your person of choice, veil and white gown flowing behind you while people watched — some cried, some clapped, some just stared in awe — and you made your way to your soon-to-be husband.

You were transfixed on the video for a while, until you heard sniffling. Discovering your husband beginning to cry, you started to laugh. He knew you well enough to know you weren’t trying to be mean, and he didn’t care much about crying in front of you, anyway.

“Stop laughing!” he sniffed. “Quit! I’m reveling in the moment!”
