Your best friend, Felix, says as he runs to the bank of the river. You follow after him, laughing as he splashes you with the cool water, the warm sun shining down on both of you as you play together. The soft buzz of the bugs, the sound of the river’s flowing stream, and his childish laughter fill your ears.

Then, you wake up. You’re in your room, and Felix is sleeping on the floor, cuddled up in the blankets you gave him. You’re reminded of the present day, your current life, his usual busyness.

A pang of nostalgia fills your chest. You remember when you two were kids, playing in the river of the nearby forest that everyone said was haunted. Now you were almost adults, focusing on studying for finals and applying for jobs. He hardly had time to be with you like this, or to go down with the river to play like you used to.

Felix continues to sleep as you drown in your nostalgia, his soft snores filling the overall silent room.
