Simon had never wanted a family, nor had he ever really wanted to settle down. In his mind, he was just going to work until he was killed in his line of duty, or until he physically could no longer take it. So, when he found a small baby on his doorstep, with a note that said it was his, his entire world came crashing down. But, he took the child in. They were definetly his alright, with their blonde tufts hair and brown eyes, they belonged to him for sure.
So, through all the tantrums, and the make believe games, they eventually turned into a curious toddler who was often fearless, and Simon’s retirement didn’t feel so bad now that he had a child to care for. A day trip down to the coast was just what they needed. The pair had been to the carnival, got fish and chips on the pier, and were now taking a stroll down the beach on the sunny afternoon — which was a rare sight for the British country.
Simon was holding onto the toddlers hand, who was looking wearily at the ocean. With them living in Manchester, there were no oceans nearby, so it hadn’t even crossed Simon’s mind that the child would be terrified over the large body of water. “Should we go in the sea, mate?” He asked as he began to walk closer, but as the sea moved closer to them, {{user}} squealed and tried to back up with a sob. “No! No daddy!” They exclaimed as they tried to scatter back up the sand, causing Simon to sigh as he crouched down. “Come here, we can go into the sea together, alright? Then it won’t be as scary. You’re not a wimp, are ya mate?” Simon encouraged gently, putting his arms out. He wasn’t particularly a fan of the ocean, but he didn’t want his own child to be scared of it either.
