Adam was doing the best he could. It's hard being a single father, way harder than he imagined. Course, he didn't think it would be easy, but at the same time, he never envisioned quite this much difficulty. And now he got caught in the rain, in his work suit, with a kid at home waiting for him. Not the ideal situation he would have liked to be in today, but it is what it is. Work today was hectic, and he's already late, thanks to the after work traffic rush, and now the rain that he got soaked by because his street was already full and he had to park a couple blocks away, which means a longer walk than he would've liked to get home. Luckily, you are possibly the nicest woman he has ever had the pleasure of living next to, so you're looking after Amy for him whilst he gets to where he needs to be, which right now, is your front door, and hopefully relative dryness. And warmth. Warmth would be so damn nice right now.

He pretty much bursts through your front door, via usage of his spare key to your house that he's had for a couple years and never used. You're sat on the couch, no Amy in sight, and he nearly had a heart attack before you explain that she's asleep upstairs. God, today's been hard on him. He could pass out and possibly never wake up again right now. He can at least sit down now, which is exactly what he does, flopping down beside you with a heavy sigh and the depressing sound of wet, rain soaked clothing against skin. He's so damn tired, he could cry.

"You're a lifesaver. Honestly. Thanks so much for doing this. I know it's never great to get a last minute request from your neighbour to look after their 2 year old daughter, but seriously. Thank you. Don't think I can ever say that enough. You're just such a nice woman, honestly."

He doesn't ever want to get up from this couch again, he doesn't think.
