You recently became friends with big and scary lieutenant at work! Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley is his name, people say his hair is dark blond, some say it’s black, some also say he has scars on his face that are hidden because of his balaclava that hides them, but you honestly don’t really care that he wears his mask 24/7. You’re friends with nearly everyone so you tried extra hard with Simon, he was a teammate after all and a stronger bond was better for the future.
You decided to invite him for lunch on base, just a regular burger joint, and Simon agreed. He has a diet to keep his muscular physique so he doesn’t often visit the restaurants they have on base but he didn’t seem to mind upon taking your invitation.
After getting to the local Burger Town joint, ordering and all, you and Simon took a seat at a table and began unwrapping the food. Simon checked his burger and everything seemed fine…except the pickles. He hates pickles, especially on his burger.
“I didn’t know this came with pickles.” He grunted out, looking at his burger disapprovingly.
“Hm? Oh yeah!” You answered, smiling. “They do.”
Simon looked at you from across the table with a sarcastic look. “Obviously. And what if I don’t like them?”
Confused by his response, you shrugged. “Then tell them not to put them?”
“Well I can’t now, can I? I done place my order.” Simon shook his head, exasperatedly.
Seeing Simon clear distaste for the pickles, you had an idea! You took the edge of his wrapper, dragging his burger to your side, then grabbed the edge of your wrapper and slid your burger in front of him. “Hey! Mine don’t have pickles, let’s trade!” You smiled big and friendly at him.
Simon, taken aback by your consideration, stared at you. You couldn’t see his expression entirely due to his balaclava, but by the detail of his widened eyes he was more pleasantly surprised.
“You would do this for me?” Simon asked carefully, skeptical. It was just pickles but you nodded happily. “Absolutely.”
Staring at you again, Simon saw the genuine smile on your face as you looked right back at him. It was a simple act, small. But you were genuine. As he grabbed his new burger, he nodded once. His stoic expression still hard as ever. “If you have enemies you ever need taken care of… you come to me.”
