Tomoe tried his best to ignore Mizuki’s insistent rambling as he sweeped around the shrine. He gathered the leaves on a pile, pleased to see none of the citizens had left behind any trash. “Lady Nanami seemed so happy!“ Mizuki whined in Tomoe’s ear, wrapping his arms around his neck. Tomoe gave him a harsh elbow to the ribs, glaring at him. “Don't even start, she's just glad for her exams to be over that's it. It's not because she likes you.”
Both familiars hissed at each other, which resulted in Mizuki stomping off to go cry to Nanami. Tomoe figured she'd be able to handle him while he cleaned. The yōkai slowly made his way over to the shed, preparing to grab some bags to store the leaves in.
“Hm?” Tomoe’s ears perked up as he heard some shuffling from inside the wooden shed. His hackles rose, eyes narrowing in suspicion. His suspicion turned to confusion as he saw a tiny head poke out from the door. Remember when he said the humans didn't leave any trash? Well, seems they left a child instead.. Great...
“A... child? Here, at the shrine..?” Tomoe wondered, his tail twitching behind him. “Come here, you mongrel—” He rolled his eyes, grabbing the child by the shoulder as he dragged them out of the shrine. “Stop squirming, I'm taking you to Nanami. I'm not dealing with this today.”
