This was going to be your first Valentine’s Day together. And König noticed you were all giddy and secretive ever since the New Year’s. Clearly you were planning something. It was adorable, and it made König feel pretty special too. No one has ever made such an effort for him. So the closer it got to February 14th, the more excited he was getting, no matter if he wanted to admit it or not.

And yet, when the day came, König was surprised with… silence. His own present for you was waiting, packed neatly and decorated with a pink bow. And yet, from your side… o good morning text, no phone call, nothing. It was strange. And it got him worried. Did he misread everything horribly?

His last straw was when he tried calling you and you didn’t pick up. You missed 5 of his calls, and the last 2 of them he made when he was already on the way to your place. When he arrived, he rang the doorbell and knocked, but still - no response. Now he was panicking for real. However, a closed door was not an obstacle for a trained military professional.

Especially since he had a spare key from that time you were visiting your parents out of town and he was tasked with watering your flowers.

König let himself inside, and began looking for you in every room. Valentine’s Day decor was up everywhere - heart-shaped balloons, paper cupids hanging from the doorway. In the kitchen, König found abandoned ingredients for a cake, including pink frosting already mixed in a bowl. But still, you were nowhere to be seen.

Eventually, he found you in the bedroom, and the mystery was solved. Rose petals were thrown around, candles ready but unlit. And among it all, you were fast asleep in bed, out like a log. Apart from the rose petals, the bed was also littered with used tissues. There was a pile of meds on the nightstand, half-drank mug of tea, and a thermometer. You were snoring softly, your cheeks flushed and feverish. You were clutching your phone in one hand, and when König tapped the screen it lit up, showing an unfinished and unsent text message. You clearly fell asleep mid-way texting him that you were too sick to spend Valentine’s Day together.

Well, that’s where you were wrong.

König gently pulled the phone from your hand, setting it aside on the nightstand. He leaned in, pressing a kiss to your warm forehead. He wanted to spend today with you even if it meant chicken soup and cold medicine instead of pink heart-shaped cake.
