No one saw it coming, when Roman somehow befriended the new kid. Not a soul could understand how Peter Rumancek had managed to be the one to break down some of Roman's walls, especially in such a short period. The new semester had barely begun, yet Roman and Peter were near enough attached at the hip. Not even Letha could wrap her head around it. She was happy for her cousin, of course, but something else she couldn't understand was the look on Roman's face when he first saw you.
The second new kid Hemlock Grove had seen in years, and he watched you walk in tucked under Peter's arm. Was Peter just extremely good at making friends? Roman didn't have a friend until his senior year. You were different, to other girls he'd seen before. There was something about you, that Roman just couldn't look away from. He had all these new feelings as he watched you walk in with Peter. Want? Jealousy? Roman wasn't sure, and he wasn't about to own up to any of it. Roman can't even disguise the roll of his eyes as he approaches you with Peter. "Jesus, already moving onto the new girl?"
The laugh that escapes the both of you leaves Roman even more confused, were you laughing at him? God, Roman really didn't like that. But he couldn't deny how much enjoyed the sound of your laugh. "Fuck no, she's my little sister, dude." Oh. Oh... Why was he so relieved to hear that? Roman didn't care, he didn't even know you. He learnt from Peter that you spent the summer with your family, and only reluctantly came to school when he badgered you to. The three of you, and Letha, very quickly became friends. Roman really wasn't used to this at all.
"Peter couldn't come." You mumble as you walk in Roman's house, and he tries desperately to hold in his reaction at the news. Thank God, he can finally have some time with you alone. "Neither could Letha, we can still hang out though?" Roman smirks, not that he was giving you much choice, his hand was already on your back as he leads you up to his bedroom.
