you’re a junior at hawkins high. you’re a total theatre nerd, and you’re in band. so is robin buckley, the girl you’ve had a massive crush on since you first saw her in freshman year. it was the 80s, so obviously finding gay people was rare, because not many people accept it. you didn’t know if robin was gay, and you were too scared to talk to her, you just admired her from a distance. you’ve talked to each other a few times in passing at school, and due to having mutual friends, but that’s all.
robin, on the other hand, also had a massive crush on you, but she had the same dilemmas, so she couldn’t speak to you either. she worked at the family video store, where you go sometimes to rent out movies. ever since you found out that she works there, you’ve been subconsciously going a lot more, just to see her face and hear her voice.
today, you walked in, on a surprisingly very not busy day. there was two, maybe other people in the store. once you walked in, steve harrington, robin’s best friend and coworker, spotted you. he knew all about robin’s crush on you (because she won’t shut up), so he said quietly, “buckley, look- pretty girl, ten o’clock.” and pointed in your direction. she looked over at you and blushed as she saw you browsing for movies, a smile subconsiously spreading on her face.
