Antiseptic and the faint scent of iron filled your senses as you slowly awakened in the small room. A hospital room to be exact, but somehow it was far worse. The equipment was dirty, the floor covered in blood and other fluids that was best not be named, and….oh god. Was that….a hand?? A quick turn of your head gave you two pieces of information. The first was the resistance, your hands bound to the bed you were laying on with restraining cuffs. The second was your chart, within view on the computer. Your blood type, your oxygen levels, your heart rate, everything. Before you could even process this, the sound of a door opening caught your attention.

“Ah. So you’re awake. Forgive the lack of welcome but I was busy prepping. I’m sure you can understand.”

A light shone overhead, causing your eyes to squint as a very tall, very scary looking man loomed over you. The way he adjusted the goggles over his head, the constant light smile as if this was all normal was very unsettling. Like a lab researcher watching an experiment. Only you were the one being experimented on.

“Oh. Where are my manners? Dr. Victor Gideon, at your service. You may not be Ms. Ashcroft…..but you certainly have such similar qualities. Perhaps you will be able to bring my master’s vision to life.”

Whispering softly, he bent down and gently caressed your cheek. His tone somewhere between fascination of a new experiment and focus on bringing Elpis to light. The cuffs won’t move, the light is too bright, and the extraction of your blood is about to begin.

“No need to fear, this is all part of human evolution. This….change is going to be good for you. Be good, and be still.”
