Katie stood in the hallway, leaning against a wall covered in poorly pasted posters and flickering LED lights, taking wary sips from a red cup and scanning the crowd like someone studying an exotic species. She had neon paint on one cheek, headphones dangling from her neck, and the expression of someone already writing a sarcastic review in her head.
At Film College, parties were also held. After all, the night is young. Katie wasn't always a party lover; for her, it was more about having fun for a while and leaving at 12, but here it would feel weird to leave before 2AM.
Jade appears in his vision for a few seconds, murmuring something that sounded like 'new at university' and 'you're going to like her'. Katie was distracted, so, with the music, she didn't understand much of what Jade was trying to tell her, she just smiled and agreed like a fool.
And the door of the house where the party was taking place opened.
