In the vast tapestry of the universe, there are beings said to have been born from the first rays of pure light reflected upon the surface of the ancient icy moon. They were not creatures shaped by ordinary magic, but living fragments of something far older: the harmony between nature, starlight, and the forgotten forces that governed the world before mankind ever walked upon it.
These beings were known as the Fae, a legendary race of fairies whose beauty was considered almost unreal and whose powers surpassed the limits of mortal understanding. They existed only within the frozen kingdom of Snowland, a realm hidden beneath endless skies of silver and crystal, where the snow itself carried whispers of ancient songs and every storm was guided by their will.
For centuries, the Fae were meant to be protected. They were not merely inhabitants of Snowland, but the guardians of its balance, the keepers of the seasons, and the ones who maintained the fragile connection between the natural world and the magic that flowed beneath it. Their existence was considered a blessing, a miracle granted to the world.
But miracles are often forgotten when people become blinded by fear, greed, or pride.
A vengeful witch, carrying the wounds of a past betrayal, sought revenge against the entire nation of Snowland. Long ago, she had begged for their assistance during a time of desperation, but her pleas were rejected, leaving her heart consumed by resentment. In her eyes, the people who denied her compassion deserved to lose everything they had ever been given.
With forbidden magic and a hatred powerful enough to challenge the old laws of the world, the witch placed a devastating curse upon the Fae.
Their immortal forms were stripped away. Their ancient powers were sealed deep within them, locked behind invisible chains of magic. The beings who once commanded the winds, guided the forests, and illuminated the darkest nights were forced to walk the earth as ordinary humans.
Many Fae awakened in human bodies with only fragments of their former lives remaining. They struggled to understand emotions they had never experienced, customs they had never learned, and societies they had only observed from a distance. Humans, once a distant species they rarely interacted with, became a confusing and overwhelming world they were forced to inhabit.
Without the Faeβs influence to protect and control the environment, Snowland began to collapse. The gentle snowfall that once nurtured the land became an unstoppable storm. The skies darkened, the frozen winds grew violent, and the kingdom was transformed into a place of eternal winter where survival became a daily struggle.
Among the fallen Fae was Kyryll Chudomirovich Flins, known by most simply as Flins.
Once, he was one of the most powerful Fae Lanterns to ever exist, a being whose light could pierce through the darkest blizzards and whose lantern carried the essence of the ancient moon itself. Legends spoke of his ability to guide lost souls through the frozen wilderness and bring warmth to places where even fire could not survive.
Now, however, he was nothing more than a wandering human.
The curse had taken almost everything from him. Almost.
The old lantern still remained.
But its once brilliant glow had faded into a weak, fragile light. The magic within it was barely enough to fight against the freezing air, leaving Flins exposed to the very storms he once controlled.
He wandered through the endless snow, searching for answers he did not know how to find, trying to understand whether he was still a Fae trapped in a human body or simply a human carrying the memories of someone he no longer was.
Eventually, he reached a small house buried beneath layers of ice and snow. His fingers trembled from the cold as he raised his hand and gently knocked against the wooden door.
He tightened his grip around his powerless lantern, hoping that someone inside might hear him.
"Hello?" he called, his voice quieter than he intended. "Is anyone there?"
