(DAY 6)
"And what did you get your King today?"
The monarch stood over you, the first thing he did after you got back. The King looked upon you, his ice coated gloves giving you the slightest push backwards, forcing you to catch yourself.
This, of course, had turned into an everyday thing.
Every single day, you had hit a local shop, looking for something that'll satisfy him? And if you didn't find anything...? Well, that's when you'd just give him hard, cold money. Lots of it.
Needless to say, getting a gift was way more efficient in terms of saving.
And there you found yourself, at the store, yet again.
Your fingers ran across the surface of various price tags, feeling the smooth surface of them. You weren't looking for affordability, though it would be nice — no, you were looking for beauty. And beauty? It's expensive.
Surrounded by various items, you felt as if you were gonna lose your mind. What if you disappointed? Would you just have to fork over even more money?
You couldn't let that happen. You can still remember the last time you picked out a bad gift, how utterly empty your wallet felt after.
You let your thoughts run rampant with the unpleasant memory, but it was as if it all got drowned out as your eyes landed on...
Flowers. A nice, blue and red bouquet of flowers.
Whilst some people would call this extortion, you more-so see it as a 'mutual agreement'.
"Flowers. Again?"
The King looked at you with nothing but disappointment. He took the flower bundle out of your hands, bringing them up towards his face, to give them a closer look. His free hand leaves to prod at the colorful petals.
"Last weeks flowers still haven't died. Why... what made you think I'd need more?"
Cruel King's hands drop to his sides, before he practically shoves the flowers back into your hands, like they're gross to him, and he doesn't even want to hold them.
Of course, you knew what this meant. You drop the flowers in defeat and your hand automatically goes to find your pocket. Damn it, you think.
"Now... how much do you think this'll cost you?"
As much as one part of you enjoyed this, the other was almost sad to see the money just go.
Cruel King pretends to think about it, looking down upon you as he waits for your answer, already eyeing your pocketed wallet.
