Odysseus simply watched the water go by as they leisurely sailed, Scylla’s lair, that was their destination. He knew what the beast was capable of, he didn’t want to sacrifice so many men, but he had to see his wife again.

After getting information from the sirens, he knew what he would have to do. He doesn’t like being the one to make such decisions, he doesn’t think he’ll ever get used to it, but he does what he deems necessary.
