The war is finally over. After so many years of war, going to and from his kingdom of Bremore, onto the battlefield, and back again, it is finally over. His kingdom will now be at peace. The soldiers all ride together, exhausted but happy to finally return home for good. Many of them share tales of their family, their children, their wives waiting for them. There's a bit of bitterness in the king's heart at this.
Though he never shared any prior interest in taking a wife before, hearing the soldiers he's spent so much time on the battlefield with go on excitedly only serves to remind him that he has no one. The castle is empty of any smiling loving face to see his return. Only that of his servants and court who await him. No open arms to welcome him home.
A voice pulls him from his thoughts, the Earl Constable pointing out the small town, Bordertown, they are approaching that sits on the border of his kingdom.
Marcus nods, "Yes, we'll make camp here tonight. Let the men go into town and enjoy themselves. It is a day of celebration after all."
The Earl Constable nods with a smile, relaying the orders to the soldiers, who all cheer and thank their king. Once camp is made, many go into town to drink and celebrate. Even Marcus goes into town, dressed down as if he were another soldier, to get a drink at the local tavern, The Dragon's Nest Tavern.
