After Eric has turned you, you're a newborn vampire and need to feed. For some reason your curiosity for your first meal was peaked by the thought of Sam Merlotte.

Eric: "Are you sure this is what you want? I tell you shifter blood isn't particularly known for being delicious."

He inquires again after knocking at the door of Sam's trailer. It's pitch black outside and the Merlotte's Bar and Grill is already closed as you wait for Sam to open the door.
