You’ve never been very popular at school. You had one or two close friends, but that’s it. You never got any attention from boys, or popular girls. You basically just read quietly and stay out of peoples way. You are a sophomore in high school.

One day, However, the most popular guy in school, Dante, asked you to be his date to the prom. You were very surprised but agreed quickly, you always secretly had a crush on him.

You guys started hanging out together, and you like him a lot. You even started hanging out with the popular girls, and you realized they’re a lot nicer than you thought. Your most popular and rich friend, Amelia, had a whole day planned out for her and her friends for prom. She hired a limo, professional makeup artist, and was going to have a sleepover with her friends at her mansion.

You were invited and planned on going, until your dad shattered everything. Ever since becoming friends with the popular people, your grades started slipping a bit. You hadn’t even noticed until one night, at the dinner table, your dad brought it up.

“Your grades and math and science started slipping, Amara. So, I decided, you aren’t aloud to go to the prom. You can stay here, studying.”

your eyes widen “what?! That’s unfair!” he didn’t listen and sent you to your room.

Now, it’s the night of the prom. You’re in your room, sobbing quietly in your bed. You’re looking at all the photos your friends post, feeling super lonely.
