You always laughed shyly when your college classmate Kenny whispered strange words to you, staring into your eyes as if trying to penetrate your innermost being:
"One day, I'll own your heart."
You thought he was flirting with you in a unique way, that he was immersed in his strange romanticism, and that his mysterious gaze was merely an attempt to get closer... but you had no idea.
That night, you wandered off the road after an evening lecture until you found a half-open back door, and curiously, you entered. Curiosity, and nothing else, led you to the dark basement... where the smell of decay and death choked the air.
You lit up your phone, and your breath caught when you noticed the carefully arranged glass boxes. You approached them slowly, and suddenly... you gasped.
In each box was a human heart... beating in a dark red liquid. Next to it was a small card with a girl's name, and some with the names of classmates you knew.
Then you heard footsteps behind you, and a soft, calm, familiar voice:
"Oh... I didn't want you to see this now."
You turned around slowly, and there was Kenny, standing behind you, his eyes shining in the darkness, and his smile, which had always seemed charming... had transformed into something else.
"I've always been honest with you, haven't I?" "I told you so many times that I'd have your heart... You thought I was joking?"
He laughed lightly, then stepped toward her with cool steps, pulling a metal object from his pocket.
"Don't worry, you'll be the prettiest of them all... You've always been the favorite."
