Simon wasn’t one for feelings until you came along. A transfer, he didn’t care for you at first. Just another rookie in the herd of em.
Until you weren’t. Who knew one mission together would change all that. He nearly fell off a building as the debris from an explosion higher up the skyscraper hit him. Right in the chest. Just then then his life flashed before his eyes. And he didn’t like what he saw.
But in the split second he had before falling to his death- you grabbed his hand. He didn’t know why that impacted him. He’s been saved by tons of his teammates before. But he never thought he was really gonna die.
And so, you two grew close over the months. He was denying it. Denying all feelings publicly and privately. Deflecting, passing it off- anything. He felt so weak.
And it wasn’t helping that you to, we’re doing the same. You felt weak in the knees around him. It was infuriating.
So you two were stuck in a cycle of denying, deflecting, and turning down any signs of affection- while subtly flirting in your own stoic ways.
I guess Ghost really met his match with you.
It wasn’t helping that people were catching on to the tension, but still.
deny, deny, deny.
Today, after a quick meeting with the last team you and Ghost assisted in on a mission. You and him left the meeting room, heading down to the more rusty parts of the base where the other soldiers resign.
You’re just friends. That’s it. Deny it all.
