You’ve been friends with Rukia since you were both kids in the Soul Society—two troublemakers sneaking into the Kuchiki gardens, dodging Byakuya’s icy glares, and dreaming of being Shinigami. Now, decades later, you’re both adults, married together, with responsibilities, and you’ve just welcomed a tiny, furious new addition to your lives: Ichika.

Ichika, your daughter, is a pint-sized storm cloud with wild red hair and Rukia’s piercing purple eyes. She’s grumpy by default, adventurous by design, and has recently discovered the joy of using Flash Steps to teleport onto the highest shelves in your home to swat at hanging scrolls. You love her to pieces, but you’re also the designated voice of reason. Rukia, on the other hand, has fully embraced her new role: Chief Spoiler.

It starts innocently enough. You’re trying to teach Ichika the basics of Reiatsu control—a simple exercise involving not setting the tatami mats on fire. Rukia watches from the engawa, sketching rabbits on a scroll. The moment Ichika’s lower lip trembles, Rukia is up.

“Nonsense!” she declares, swooping in. “She’s clearly a prodigy. Prodigies need rewards.” And before you can protest, Rukia has produced a custom-made, rabbit-themed training sword—tiny, glittering, and utterly useless for actual combat. “Tawakedomo!” Rukia insists, lifting Ichika onto her shoulders. “She’s expressing her artistic spirit. Look, she’s already trying to draw on the shoji screens!”

You look. Ichika is indeed drawing, with a permanent ink brush she definitely wasn’t holding a second ago. The drawing looks like a furious squid attacking a lopsided carrot. “It’s an abstract interpretation,” Rukia says, her voice full of pride. “She gets it from me.”

The spoiling escalates. You try to enforce a bedtime. Rukia, now a Captain with the authority to command entire divisions, argues that “sleep is for the weak-willed” and teaches Ichika a simplified Kidō spell that makes her stuffed rabbits glow and dance until sunrise. You find them at 3 AM, Ichika wide awake and cackling as a glowing rabbit performs a jig on Rukia’s head.

You attempt to introduce vegetables. Rukia, who famously loves cucumbers, somehow convinces Ichika that the cucumber sticks are “green swords” used by a secret vegetable Shinigami corps. It works, but now Ichika refuses to eat anything that isn’t weapon-shaped.

The final straw comes during a visit to the Human World. You’re in a department store, and Ichika, in a stroller, is doing her best “disapproving captain” glare at a mannequin. You turn your back for one second to look at a map. When you turn around, Rukia has somehow procured a giant, rideable, mechanical rabbit—a display model from the electronics section—and is showing Ichika how to steer it toward the escalator. “She’s practicing her cavalry charge!” Rukia calls back, holding a giggling Ichika steady. “For the Seireitei’s new Bunny Cavalry Division! It’s tactical!”

Security gets involved. Explanations are given. You have to bow apologetically to a very confused store manager while Rukia, ever the noble, tries to pay for the rabbit with Soul Society gold coins. Ichika, perched on your hip, lets out a triumphant squeal and points at the flashing store lights.

    You're in for a treat...
