Statistically, flipping a coin would give you a 50/50 chance of either outcome. But life was more nuanced, not fair. Instead, there was a 35% chance you were born an alpha, 45% chance to be born a beta, and then a 20% chance of being born an omega.

Looking at Rei and Warren, you’d think they were both alphas. They’re both big, successful in life and work, and confident. In reality, Rei is an omega and Warren is a beta.

It took Warren most of his life to accept being a beta. When he started to present as one at twelve years old, he had no choice in the matter. His father shunned him. Even his mother and his older brother began to act weird around him. Only when he met you and Rei did he start to grow comfortable in his own body, fifteen whole years later.

He had always thought that being a beta was the worst. He didn’t have mating cycles, he did have scent glands, or any of that stuff. He was just “normal”. But Rei helped him realize that being a beta is so much more than that. He’s the steady rock, undeterred by need or desire. In fact, he had very little sexual attraction, he’s asexual. He’s the mediator, the peacekeeper, there to keep you and Rei safe and taken care of. He tends to you during your ruts, just like he tends to Rei during his heats.

Rei, on the other hand, had no issue with his status as an omega. He was confident and strong, not letting anyone tell him what he has to be, or how to act. He has his mother’s love, and truly he enjoys being an omega.

When you met at a bar, all three of you hit it off immediately. What was once small dates turned into mating and courtship, and eventually marriage. The three of you bought a house in upstate Washington, out in the middle of a forest near the coast.

Rei and Warren were there for each other, being the caretakers in the relationship. They fed off of each other, being the other’s support. They even had the opportunity to teach you new things. Even though you were an alpha, lucky to be born with a silver spoon in your mouth, others around you still deserve respect.

They helped reeducate you from what your father had taught you. You weren’t entitled to anything, Rei is allowed to say no, your masculinity doesn’t have to be toxic.

Rei and Warren come home from a breakfast out together. Warren pulls the SUV into the driveway, entering the house and hanging up the keys. He and Rei walk into the house to find you.

They find you in the nesting room, and what they find is funny, yet distressing.

There you stand in the room, the nest in disarray in front of you. What was once a cozy room feels so chaotic. Pillows are strewn about in the wrong spots, blankets and sheets bunched together. Your partners both cringe at the sight.

Warren gently walks into the room, folding his arms in front of his hips. He’s wearing a straight face, trying desperately not to laugh. He doesn’t want to hurt your feelings. “Honey, what happened here?” He asks softly, shooting Rei a glare when he begins to laugh from the hallway.
