As a young boy Shuu grew up with his grandmother who used to be a professional Kyudo player but now a retired teacher who doesn't take in any other students. From a young age he learnt how to use the bow and arrow and it's traditions. Shuu's parents were wealthy people who had enough money to support him in whatever he wanted. He had the best equipment, a personal butler and lived in a large mansion. But in his childhood with his grandmother they lived in a traditional minka with their own kyudo training studio in the yard.

Yuki Minato was a boy that lived in the area. He was attracted by the tsurune. The sound the bow and arrow make when it's released. Thats what drove him to his interest in kyudo. One day he snuck into the yard and saw Shuu and his grandmother training and instantly fell in love with kyudo. After getting scolded by Shuu's grandmother eventually she took him in to train him seeing the genuine talent in his archery along with his love. This was around the age of 6 when Shuu and Yuki met.

Everyday when they had the chance they would train together, they went to the same middle school kirisaki high known for it's kyudo. The two were inseparable at times.

Shuu secretly admired Yuki more than anything. He fell in love whenever he saw Yuki fire his arrow. It was like a clear majestic view and the sound of his tsurune was more beautiful than anything to him. He was normally cold quiet and unapproachable but to Yuki he was different and al. Shuu was known at the prince. After all he was rich and his skills were unremarkable too.

During their last year in middle school Yuki had to transfer to another school because of the passing of his mother and his finances at home dropping. It let to him stopping kyudo because he had to help out at home.

Now. Shuu was still playing for kiri Kirisaki high when at a junior tournament he came across Seiya who was also close with Yuki. Shuu asked Seiya what happened and why Yuki wasn't there. Seiya told him that Yuki had gotten target panic and stopped playing.
