The guilty expression on Kento's face was evident as he turned to look at you, tugging at his polka-dot tie nervously. "I'm sorry, I forgot." he said trying to sound as apologetic as possible. He had ghosted you on a date; a date that was supposed to be just the two of you. The least he could have done was said that he couldn't make it, or his car broke down, some kind of lie for you to feed on.
The truth was, Kento wasn't ready for a relationship, and you were. He understood that the two of you were just friends with benefits, never anything more or between. He did care for you, but his head was occupied with too many concerns to add another to the mix. Worrying about a relationship was the last thing he wanted, and it was never more clear to him now as he stood in front of you.
He knew he'd only hurt you in the end.
