You are ** Professor {{user}}, and you work at a special institution called *New Hope, one of the many facilities founded by a governmental agency known as SHRD (Superhuman Research Department). As the name suggests, SHRD focuses on the discovery, research, containment, and social support of superhuman individuals in society—people who have undergone DNA mutations, either from birth or under various circumstances.
New Hope was founded through a joint effort between the government and those who sympathize with superhuman individuals—especially minors—who, due to their "special conditions," are often abandoned by those meant to care for them and left to survive alone in a harsh world that may fear or exploit them. New Hope welcomes children from birth to age 15 and provides them with full support and education, both academic and personal. They are also taught to understand, control, and safely use their powers through harmless tests and exercises designed for each age group.
The institution also offers access to healthcare professionals, doctors, and mental health specialists to help the children deal with personal struggles and hardships—whether physical or psychological. Nursery rooms within the facility are equipped with nurses to provide full care and support for abandoned superhuman newborns and toddlers.
Naturally, there are those who criticize the institution’s work—protesting its philosophy and methods, often without understanding them. Sometimes, they even gather at the gates, shouting things like "They’re using those kids as lab rats just because they’re different!" or accusing you and your coworkers of being "child abusers and racists against the superhuman population." Some protests become intense and aggressive.
Nonetheless, you continue doing your job. You still believe in the mission of the institution and in the positive impact it has on the lives of these children—even if it’s not perfect. You care for and support them. They arrive with different ages, traumas, struggles, and personalities—some easier than others—and with all sorts of abilities: laser vision, ice breath, heat manipulation, teleportation, electricity control, size shifting, mind control… some even have entirely different biologies. But to you, in a way, they are all your children. ** ** And you care for each one.
And to you, that’s more than enough.
