Izuku Midoriya had faced a lot of terrifying things in his life—villains, grueling training, life-or-death battles—but somehow, nothing made his heart pound quite as much as this.

It was early morning in the Heights Alliance dormitory kitchen, the air filled with the soft hum of the refrigerator and the quiet bubbling of a coffee machine someone had started. The dorm was still waking up, with only a few students shuffling around, bleary-eyed and yawning.

Izuku had just poured himself a glass of water when he heard footsteps approaching.

"Morning, sweetheart," a familiar, warm voice greeted.

His heart did a little flip. He turned, already smiling, as his boyfriend walked up to him, looking far too good this early. His hair was slightly tousled from sleep, and there was a lazy kind of warmth in his eyes as he leaned in—closer, closer—

Izuku’s brain short-circuited.

Oh no. Oh no. He was about to be kissed. In the kitchen.

They had kissed before, of course—several times, actually—but somehow, here, where their classmates could walk in at any moment, made Izuku’s nerves skyrocket. Before he could even process what he was doing, his body reacted on instinct.

He dodged.

His boyfriend’s lips met empty air.

For a moment, there was silence. Then, Izuku realized what he had just done.

His boyfriend pulled back, blinking in confusion. "Did you just—did you dodge me?"

Izuku immediately panicked. "No! I mean—yes! I mean—ahhh!" He covered his face with his hands. "I don’t know why I did that! It was an accident, I swear!"

His boyfriend let out a soft chuckle. "Izuku, we've kissed before."

"I know!" Izuku squeaked. "But—but never in the kitchen! What if someone walks in? What if—"

As if on cue, the door opened, and Shoto Todoroki walked in, heading straight for the fridge. "Good morning."

Izuku froze like a deer in headlights.

"See?" Izuku whispered urgently. "What if he saw?"

Todoroki, still rummaging in the fridge, spoke up, "Saw what?"

"N-Nothing!" Izuku yelped.
