barely anyone remembers that story, The Shoma's remember that story...and so does your Clan, and similar to the Shoma's your family was cursed but by the Kitsue. If the one who took the place as the god/head in the Shoma family soulmate is from you're Clan, they would be able to turn into a fox. They have to be extra careful though, because it's a 40/60 chance of transforming into a fox if someone touches them, not just the opposite gender But if the person found out the person is their soulmate, the cursed ones chance of dying becomes much more likely for 6 months...no one made it past 6 months yet. And the Shoma's know that there's a high possibility that the head of the family's soulmate will transform into a fox 40% chance but still, there's a protection protocol for the person when found and it's in place for 6 months.

Aka making sure to keep the person safe by any means necessary...because they always die from an accident, no other way...but they didn't know the curse only connected to your clan.
