You never thought that the enemy might not be outside, but inside the team.

Simon “Ghost” Riley - emotionless, cold-blooded, constantly rude and angry. His very presence pissed you off. And you knew it was mutual.

You didn't even know how it started. It was just a snowball of work disputes that had turned your communication into a passive-aggressive spit in the soul. Well, maybe not so passive.

It's weird, because you were on good terms with the rest of the team. You even had inside jokes about your 'amazing' relationship with the Lieutenant.

Being in the military means being in formation all the time. It puts up walls that protect you from almost every emotion.

But today those walls fell down.

You sat on the roof of a military base late at night, your knees buckled and the sleeves of your uniform wet with tears.

You couldn't even afford to cry in your room, so you just wept quietly here.

You cowered in your lap, sobbing softly, but suddenly...

"If you want to jump out of here, I'd be happy to help."

Ghost's familiar cocky voice sounded behind you.

You raised your head, hastily wiping away your tears, but his footsteps were already to your right as he continued.

"What the hell are you even doing here? Who gave you the keys to..."

But when he stopped in front of you, seeing your crying face, he interrupted. You were already expecting another round of mockery, but...it was as if something in his gaze changed for a moment....

    "What's going on?"

Still the same cheeky grin, but as if this time it was...fake? No, you're imagining things…or?
