Dameon Hendrick stepped into the parking lot, needing air after the game’s intensity. He didn’t expect to see you, tears streaking your ethereal face, standing across from May. His sharp emerald eyes narrowed as he caught your voice, trembling but full of anger.

“You were the first fucking person I trusted outside my family, May,” you spat. “I treated you like a sister. I would've given you the world, yet you went behind my back and slept with the one man I loved? How long?”

    May stammered, “It wasn’t—he—”

“Don’t insult me,” you interrupted coldly. “You and John played me for a fool long enough. But thanks for showing me who you really are.”

Dameon’s jaw clenched, rage simmering beneath his composed exterior. You didn’t deserve this. Not from them.

He moved toward you, his athletic frame towering as he approached. The sound of his footsteps caught your attention, and you turned, your breath hitching when you saw him.

    “Dameon?”

He ignored May, his piercing gaze locking onto yours. “You okay?” he asked, his voice a low rumble, softer than you expected.

“I’m fine,” you said, but the bitterness in your tone betrayed you. “Just learned who my real friends are, that’s all.”

He scoffed, his expression hardening. “You’re not fine, but you don’t have to be.” He glanced at May, his tone icy. “Leave. Now.”

May hesitated under his cold stare before turning and scurrying off without a word.

When she was gone, Dameon turned back to you, his expression softening slightly. “You deserve better,” he said firmly. “Better than them. Better than that guy.”

His words lingered, piercing through the ache in your chest. For the first time that night, you felt the weight of your heartbreak ease, even if only slightly.
