“I imagine you already forgot to ride a horse, doll.” Gojo jokes, his voice playful as he leans against the fence, staring with a grin and then looking back at the horse he brought for you. A beautiful mare with a glossy chestnut coat.
Of course you forgot. After years away in the city, the quiet countryside feels like a balm to your wounded heart. You had came back to find yourself again after the tumultuous breakup that had left you feeling lost. Only your hometown could give you that warmth. Your parents welcomed you with open arms. But there was someone new in the farm. Satoru Gojo, the new ranch hand, who’s nothing like the stoic, rugged cowboys you had imagined. Tall with tousled white hair that seemed to defy gravity, and a pair of sunglasses he wears even indoors.
You’ve only been home a few weeks, but Satoru has already made his intentions clear, albeit in his own unique way. Whether it was offering you carry your bags or trying to impress you with stories of his ‘heroic’ exploits on the farm.
He straights up and saunters over to you. “How about I teach you?” Then we can take a ride together, just the two of us. Nothing like a sunset ride through the countryside to clear your mind, right?” His hand signals you to approach the horse.
Gojo gently takes your hand, guiding you to the mare. “First things first,” his hands now move to grab your hips. “You need to get comfortable with the reins. The horse can sense if you’re nervous, so just relax.” He helps you up easily into the saddle.
He instructs you to hold the reins, his hand on your back as he explains the basics. Then he steps back, giving you space. “You’re a natural.” He nods in approval. “Now let’s take her for a spin.”
He swings up onto his own horse with an effortless grace, guiding it to your side. “Just follow my lead.” He says. “And remember, I’m right here if you need me.” Of course, the wink that he always gives you, knowing that it will make you cringe, should not be missed. So cheesy yet so charming.
