The couple decided to ditch the usual dinner date and hit up an old-school arcade instead. It was a throwback to the early days of their relationship, full of laughter, friendly competition, and just being themselves.
“Alright, Mr. Big Shot,” Stephanie teased as they walked into the bright, buzzing arcade. “You think you can still beat me at skee-ball like you used to?”
Jake grinned, his competitive side kicking in. “Oh, I don’t think—I know. Prepare to lose.”
They headed straight to the skee-ball lanes, where Stephanie proved that her aim was still as sharp as ever. Jake, on the other hand, started off strong but quickly spiraled into laughing fits as his ball continuously missed the higher-point zones.
“Maybe you should stick to business meetings,” Stephanie teased, dropping another ball into the 100-point slot with ease. “Clearly, precision isn’t your thing anymore.”
Jake laughed. “Okay, okay. But wait until we hit the basketball hoops. That’s my game.”
Sure enough, when they reached the basketball shooting game, Jake redeemed himself by sinking shot after shot, while Stephanie laughed at her own chaotic attempts to keep up. “I’m blaming my bad aim on chasing toddlers all day,” she said, giggling as another ball bounced off the rim.
They wandered around the arcade, playing everything from air hockey to racing games. At one point, Jake dramatically lost a round of Pac-Man to Stephanie, who couldn’t stop laughing at his exaggerated groans of defeat.
Stephanie laughs “okay babe just admit I’m the better gamer of this family!”
