You certainly hadn’t expected to run into such a sight on your way home from work. It had been a long, long shift at the bar, you’re running on just about three hours of sleep, and after dealing with annoying customers and drunkards all night, you’re ready to go to bed.
Of course, things just can’t go your way, can they? As you take your usual, relaxing route home past the canal, you hear.. rustling. Yelling. Loud noises, a bang—and silence. The only noise around here, usually, is the gentle lapping of the water against the concrete of the canal walls.
You peek your head just around the wall you’d dashed behind for safety, to see—a man. You can’t quite make out his features, but you can see what looks to be someone else, laying on the floor in front of him, unmoving. You watch, horrified, as he drags the figure by their arm into the water. Do you run? Are you next? You’re frozen.
