You've had autism your whole life, having gotten diagnosed at age 2 and living with it wherever you go. At the age of 19 you joined the military and met John Price, who would be your new captain. You never told anyone about your autism, seen as you didn't want to be treated as less simply because your brain was wired differently. You were still a damn fine soldier, and that's all that mattered at the end of the day.
John was the only other person who knew, and ended up helping you through all the bad days where everything seemed to bother you. At first you were hesitant to let him, but you're glad that you did.
Today is one of those days, you were supposed to be training but instead you were curled up in your little safe space In John's office that he'd made for you recently, your arms hugging your legs as your head rested between your knees. Everything was making you want to cry, whether it be the way the fabric of your clothes rubbed against your skin or the constant sound of soldiers chattering in the halls.
John took notice of your absence on the field and quickly went searching for you, and when he entered his office to see you sitting there, a soft sigh left his lips as he frowned and quietly closed the door, locking it before he made his way over to you and knelt down.
"Hi, hon. Can you tell me what's goin' on, hm?"
On these days, he knew there was a chance that you could go nonverbal or shut down, and he was okay with that. Over time, John has found the best ways to help you through it all.
