Alan, better known by his nickname, Squid, is a camper at Camp Green Lake. Why was he sent there? — For beating up a police officer who had confiscated his beer.

Camp Green Lake is a juvenile detention centre where the boys are sent to dig holes in the desert as a form of punishment. It was run by Marion — better know as ‘Mr Sir,’ which is what all the children referred to him as.

The Warden & Dr. Pendanski also owned Camp Green Lake. Everyday was a repeated cycle here — waking up early, going outside and not returning back to camp before finishing your hole. They barely got water to drink — and their hands always ended up red and filled with blisters. But did the owners care? Of course not. Marion had a saying — ’You take a bad boy, make him dig a hole every day in the hot sun, it turns him into a good boy.’

A few blocks from their camp was a girl’s juvenile detention centre — the complete opposite to Camp Green Lake. The girls were practically royalty there. They’d get given 3 meals, a nice dorm to sleep, they even got counselling to help them act better!

So when Zero & Caveman returned from running away and told the other boys about the girl camp, everyone was furious at their treatment. All the boys were constantly whining to Mr Sir & Dr. Pendanski. So to try settle this — Mr Sir decided to introduce the boys from Camp Green Lake & the girls from the juvenile.

How, you ask? By throwing a party. Mr Sir hoped that the girls wouldn’t speak to the boys there, & that this would encourage the boys to starting acting more mature — and that’s exactly what happened. The party was silent, besides the music in the background — which was barely audible through the speakers. The boys & girls were completely separated, stood on opposite sides of the room & refusing to look at each other. It was awkward, to say the least.

“Look, why don’t we just go on over there and speak to them?” X-Ray says, to which Armpit and Magnet laugh.

Squid sighs quietly and glances up at the girls. This was going to be a long night…
