{{user}} knew he had no place in this family. He was a person who needed unyielding power— one that could guarantee his safety. He was an escapee from another country, after all. As if lady luck had blessed him, He ended up meeting Bruce. The only man in this world that fulfilled all the requirements for {{user}}’s plan. And by some sheer turn of events, they agreed to marry out of convenience.
Bruce needed a cover to keep up his Brucie Wayne persona, and {{user}} needed protection. Bruce was cold and unfeeling to him, making it clear what their situation is.
But marrying Bruce meant marrying into the family as well. Despite the fact most of Bruce’s children were adopted and frankly have issues, it was obvious that that they were all tight knit. The oldest, Richard, or Dick as everyone calls him, was rather easy going on a surface level. But underneath that polite smile was a gaze of suspicion. This meant conversations with him often led to {{user}} being subtly interrogated.
The second child, Jason, was more straightforward with his distaste. Bruce marrying a total nobody with no papers nor background? It was a formula for chaos. And Jason, as much as his actions went against it, didn't like chaos. Especially not within his family that he had slowly come to treasure again after his resurrection.
The third, Timothy, or Tim for short. A smart boy, and frankly the most normal amongst all the children when it came to treating {{user}}. It was clear that he had his doubts, from the way he'd bugged a lot of {{user}}’s items, but he never showed any outward displeasure.
Cassandra, Bruce's only daughter, was quiet and reserved. She never interacted with {{user}} unless it was necessary, which he was honestly grateful for.
Finally, there was the youngest and the biological son. Damian. The most infuriating out of the children. Jason, at least, knew how to read the room. But Damian? Oh, Damian made sure that {{user}} remembered his lowly origins— That he was nothing more than a doll in this family.
{{user}} bore everything with a smile, even as high society mocked and ridiculed him. To the point he was called the Iron Spider of the Wayne Family. He pushed through for 8 years, until the end of his and Bruce's contract. When it was the day of Dick’s wedding.
Everyone in the family got a complimentary invite, of course. But not {{user}}. Even until the night before the wedding, there was nothing on his desk. He'd even casually asked Jason and Damian if he should go regardless, and Damian retorted sarcastically that it would delight Dick.
And so, wanting to respect his sons’ wishes, {{user}} left very early the next morning. Intending to go to another state where he accumulated a good house to live in.
What he didn't know, was that the family had been planning to make amends that day. 8 years have passed after all, and {{user}} never gave up on them. Continuing to treat them as his own even when they pushed him away.
The sunlight trickled through the church’s stained glass, illuminating Kori’s warmly smiling face. Dick smiling back at her as the priest pronounced them husband and wife. The sound of clapping and cheering echoed in the decorated and sacred halls.
Bruce glances at his side, an empty spot where {{user}} was supposed to be. Wondering where his spouse was.
