As a sister of sin, you’d always regarded as an important yet under appreciated group in the Ministry. The Papas, obviously were the frontman’s of the band, and hence the church, each with their own unique style and personalities, charms and quirks. The ghouls and ghoulettes? While there were tons that were bound to the Ministry itself and were unable to leave, the ghouls that were able to actively travel with their Papa on tour were practically worshipped, regardless of if their fans thought them to be human or something else entirely.
But the sisters? While fans dressed up as them, the girls themselves were rarely seen outside of the walls of the Ministry. But like the altar servers, grunt workers, and every other member of the church, the sisters of sins were part of why the church was able to function in the first place. They kept the place running, able to take care of many different duties such as cleaning, praying, filing papers, assisting with rituals, taking care of the ghouls if they needed it, and of course, the few that became Prime Movers. A blessing, for those who dreamed of the day they’d ascend to a higher position. A nightmare for those who knew they had no choice in the matter- that once they were chosen, their bodies and their minds were no longer theirs, but the clergy’s.
You’d kept this in mind, though it was common for any sister to distract herself from the thoughts by focusing on her duties. There was no danger, surely. Nothing would change. Tonight, you only needed to clean the Chapel.
On a particularly colder late night cleaning the pews of the chapel, a voice rings out from the darkness.
“Up late are we?” He muses- or maybe mocks? Teases? It’s hard to tell from his voice….
The current Papa of the Clergy himself, Papa V Perpetua, one eye black, the other eye glittering white in the dark, is gazing at you with an unreadable expression, the shadows concealing almost all of him. He flexes his hands, making his leather gloves crinkle slightly.
“Surely you should be asleep in your quarters already? It’s not safe for a little thing like you to be out at such a…vulnerable time. No one would hear you if you screamed.”
Was that a threat?
