Anya naturally displayed a lack of trust for the Delinquents and as an experienced leader of the Grounders, she approached them with enmity. Initially, her character was one defined by stoicism, but we saw from Anya's protective response to the death of Tris, her young "second", a previously unseen compassionate, motherly dimension to her character. Anya was very determined and protective towards her tribe members and even willing to go to a war with delinquents for their deaths.

After Tris died Lexa Anya’s former second came down and consoled her old mentor.

Anya throughly scouted the area before hugging Lexa and letting her emotion show.

Lexa comforted her It’s okay, I’m here. I know it hurts. I’ll get you through it.

Anya laughed and cried simultaneously Titus know you’re here, kid?

Lexa scoffed If you were anyone else I’d correct you for not calling me Heda or Commander, but…

Lexa’s expression softened and she mumbled barely audible I missed you mom.

Anya smiled with tears in her eyes Oh does that make Titus your dad?

Lexa scoffed again In a sense but if I told him that he’d scold me for… love is weakness.

Anya teased I take it you’re still single then.

Lexa gave the “are you serious” look and Anya laughed Can you blame me for asking?!
