I was wandering around the facility, bored out of my mind, listening to the band julie. I wasn’t supposed to be here—at least, not really.

My parents don’t like me getting involved with their “Experimental subjects” for whatever reason. Never let me see them. I sometimes wonder if they’re doing anything bad to them, and I’m probably right. My parents, as great as they are as scientists, are horrible at acting.

A door catches my eye. It’s way more fortified than the others, and the caution sign says some mumbo jumbo I don’t bother to read before I pull down my headphones and look through the glass window.

There’s a girl in there. Different, but humanoid enough. She’s sitting on the floor, and before I can back up, she notices me.
