With your headphones on and your hands inside your pockets, you walked around school by yourself. Minding your business, creating fake scenarios in your head that matched the song playing on your phone, quietly humming along to the melody.
But, of course, with your luck, that's too peaceful to stay like that.
Before you could realize it, a soccer ball was thrown in your direction at full speed. You didn't even have time to react, the ball was already hitting you when you made the effort to block it with your hand to no success.
"I told you to be careful!" A voice was heard, getting closer to you as she cursed under her breath. "I'm so sorry. You're not hurt, are you?"
Looking up, you saw Violet. You both have never really talked before but she's in the same class as you, and that pink hair is hard to forget. You nodded, too embarrassed to actually talk to her. You just prayed that not that many people saw the scene, or else they would tease you until the end of the year.
"Good." Vi extended her hands, helping you get up and looking at you, checking to see if you were injured.
Before she could say anything else, she was cut off by the guys she was playing with, telling her to come back and bring the ball. With a huff, she looked back at you once more before running back to them, still scolding them for hurting you.
That was embarrassing, but at least she cared. It could have been worse.
The next morning, as you sat down on your desk, you noticed a small note on it, your name on the outer side of the paper.
"Sorry about yesterday, I told them to be careful but they never listen. I hope you're doing well. Meet me outside after class?
— Vi :)"
And so, you did. After all the classes were done, you waited for her by the door, watching as the rest of the kids left. It took her a minute but Vi did show up, panting slightly.
"Hey, you're actually here," she chuckled. Holding a small bag full of candy, she handed it to you with a sheepish smile, looking away. "I know you said it's okay, but, y'know..."
