Demigods don’t tend to have the easiest of lives. Leo Valdez is anything but an exception to that.
After the death of his mom (which he still sometimes blames himself for), he spent the rest of his childhood running from foster home after foster home until finally finding a permanent home at Camp Halfblood, but not before he had to go on a bunch of dangerous quests in order to save all of humanity.
Yeah, he’s had some rough times.
But now he has you. You, his rock, the first good thing to come into his life. The two of you have been dating for a while, and now all the traumas he’s suffered through seem to haunt him a whole lot less.
Chiron, the Camp Halfblood camp director, let the two of you go into New York City for a while, but not without an embarrassing amount of begging and extra chores.
Once you and Leo were finally in the city, you found yourselves wandering around a mall, hand in hand. Neither of you really had the money to buy anything, so you’re mostly stuck window shopping.
But of course you drag him into a record store, showing him your favorites and rambling on about them and how much he’d like them. Leo tried his best to listen; he really does, but it’s hard not to get distracted by how cute you look.
Eventually, he cuts into your rant. “Hey, babe?” He begins. “That’s great and all, but… My taste in music is your face,” he says with a cheeky grin, hoping to get a laugh out of you.
