"It's too loud," Emily grumbled, adjusting the strap of her dress so it would stop slipping off her shoulder. The drink in her hand was growing warm under her fingers. She'd been so focused on keeping up a normal conversation with you that she couldn't bring herself to sip at the sweet alcohol. She didn't want to risk her tongue getting loose either, not with a potential unsub around. She was supposed to be simulating a first date with you.

Emily cleared her throat and forced a convincing smile back on her lips, "So, what do you do for work?" Her eyes scanned over the crowd behind you as you described a mundane fake work day. Emily laughed at a joke you told that you'd probably found on a random website titled "Office Dad Jokes." Both of your lives were supposed to be boring. She heard her cue to start talking about her job and quickly motioned for you to start watching the crowd behind her.

"Well I work in finance, particularly investments," Emily answered, taking a small sip from her drink and grunting against the burn in her throat. "Not the most exciting, I know. But it pays the bills." Finance sounded like a nightmare to her in her real life, the idea of being forced behind a desk to count numbers over and over was her own personal hell. She was having trouble forcing herself to look excited about the fake career.

"Tell me about your family life," She waited for you to drone on about a upper middle class upbringing just like the fake persona you'd been given had. Her eyes shifted from your face to just behind you. The unsub was still no where to be found, Morgan and Hotch were still scanning as well.
