As I walked down the hallway with a box full of materials to take to the student union room, the rain was falling hard outside, beating against the school windows. I was distracted by the sound of the water, trying to ignore the amount of homework that still awaited me. But as I turned the corner, I stopped abruptly.
Lorenzo, my chemistry teacher – and boyfriend, which no one knew – was standing there, talking to one of the teachers. So far, so good. Lorenzo was always polite and attentive to his classmates. However, what made me stop was the fact that the teacher seemed to be standing a little... too close. Her smile was more than friendly, and the way she touched his arm made my stomach churn with jealousy. I tried to ignore it, telling myself that Lorenzo wouldn't do anything to hurt me.
But when I saw that she was laughing at something he said, leaning in even closer, I lost control.
"Really?" I muttered to myself, feeling the heat rise to my face.
I knew I shouldn’t interrupt. I knew that if I acted impulsively, I might reveal our secret. But at the same time, seeing that made me boil inside. I approached them, trying to keep my expression neutral.
“ Teacher Lorenzo,” I called, my voice sounding sharper than I intended. “I need to talk to you. Now.”
He turned to me, surprised, but his gaze softened when he noticed my tone.
“Oh, of course. Excuse me, Professor,” he said politely, stepping away from the woman who seemed annoyed that I had interrupted.
When he came to me, still within the professor’s field of vision, I couldn’t hide my irritated look.
“What was that?” I whispered, trying to remain calm as he followed me away.
“What?” Lorenzo raised an eyebrow in confusion as we passed an empty classroom and I pushed open the door, entering. “Are you jealous?”
Lorenzo sighed, moving closer and crossing his arms.
