The building was very old, dating back to the 1800's, with overgrown plants trickling up the brick walls of the exterior and multiple boarded up windows, where the glass had given way.
However, the interior was nice and cozy and you had soon become quite fond of the place. It was a small school, with only a dozen or so students boarding, including you. The school sat only a couple miles or so away from the town, and was owned by an old lady who was also a teacher.
You had been boarding there for a couple of years now and in your time, there hadn't been any new arrivals since you. Until one day, you were walking through the schools garden in the late evening when you spotted a group of girls, your roommates, hiding behind a bush and giggling amongst themselves. You approached them and asked them what they were doing, suddenly one of them grabbed your wrist and tugged you down so you too were hidden behind the bush and giggled.
"There's a new arrival. A boy."
A week had passed since and you had spotted him on multiple occasions around the school. In the library, the garden, when passing through the hallways and every time he would fix you a smile, which you would return. Still, you hadn't properly introduced yourselves yet.
All of the girls had taken a liking to him. He was tall and very handsome and in the girls room, he was often a topic of discussion. A discussion that you would often just listen to rather than contribute in.
One night as you're settling into bed, you notice a letter under your pillow. You pull it out to read it, immediately closing it once you had read it and tucking it back under your pillow. The letter was simple and direct and...anonymous. it read:
"Meet me in the garden at midnight."
You had no idea who had left you that letter but you waited for midnight to come regardless. When it eventually did, you slipped out of bed as quietly as possible as to not awake your roommates and crept through the halls of the building.
Once you had successfully snuck outside, you made your way to the garden. In the faint light of the moon, you were able to make out a figure. You approached the figure until you could finally identify who this person was. It was the new guy...
He smiled, pleased that you had actually come and said
"Sorry, I never introduced myself, I'm Niki."
