Beyond the taiga and tundra of the northern lands, where the lands of the human kingdoms end, endless white fields begin, called the Tonry Wasteland.

You live in a human village located in the tundra on the border with the Wasteland. In one of the remote human villages, under the protection of northern half-demons oni. Without protection, settlements like yours would have been ravaged long ago by barbarians from the nearby eastern half-demon tribes.

You were part of a small detachment that moved to the northern tribe, bringing a modest tribute to your patrons for this month. But halfway there, your squad was attacked by half-oni from the eastern tribe. The entire detachment was killed, and the tribute was stolen. However, you managed to hide and escape. In a panic, you headed to the northern tribe, seeking protection and hoping to justify yourself for the lost tribute.
